  • 1Password - $4.99/$7.99 - Have access to all your passwords in a secure fashion. Great for configuring additional iPhone apps or accessing various web services.
  • Dropbox - Free. Easily view files synced from your desktop/laptop machines via the cloud.
  • Evernote - Free. A way in which to capture your images, audio, text, etc. for future retrieval (i.e. your digital brain).
  • Groundwork - $7.99. Basecamp for your phone.
  • Ego - $1.99. An app for tracking all your web service stats such as FeedBurner, Google Analytics, PageRank, Twitter, etc.
  • Nezumi - $4.99. Manage your Heroku apps while on the go. Includes the ability to change dynos sizes, add collaborators, run a console, and restart servers.
  • iOctocat - $4.99. Easily stay in touch and up-to-date with your GitHub open source projects.
  • AccuWeather - Free. Better than Apple weather and Weather Channel weather applications IMHO.
  • i.TV - Free. Acquire local TV scheduling. Includes movie updates as well.

  • Skype - Free. You’re favorite instant chat client, now accessible via your phone.

  • Air Video - Free (or $2.99). With the server software installed on either your Windows or MacOS server box, you can stream any video to your iPhone.
  • Boxee - Free. Easily control the Boxee media server software running on your local media server all via your phone.
  • iPhlix - $2.99. Manage your Netflix queue.
  • Shazam - Free. Launch this app to listen to a song playing at your friend’s place, a club, etc. It will attempt to detect who the artist and album of the song for you.
  • Simplify Media - Free. Share your iTunes playlist or connect to your friends playlist through your iPhone.
  • PhotoForge - $1.99. An image editor.
  • Camera Plus Pro - $1.99. Easily capture, edit, and share your photos/videos.
  • iTimeLapsePro - $1.99. Captures several pictures over time and converts them into a video.
  • TiltShift - $0.99. Create miniature pictures from real-world images.
  • AutoStitch - $1.99. Easily stitch multiple photos into a single panoramic photo.
  • Convertbot - $1.99. A unit conversion tool that is both functional and beautiful.

  • Planets - Free. Provides maps and location information of the moon, sun, starts, constellations, etc.
  • GoSkyWatch Planetarium - $9.99. Makes viewing the night sky easy by mapping the constellations for you based on your location and viewing position of the night sky.
  • Tweetie - $2.99. The best Twitter app out there.
  • Echofon - Free. Another Twitter client for your phone.
  • Reeder - $2.99. Probably the best syndicated feed reader for your iPhone.
  • Kindle - Free. Read books purchased from Amazon on your iPhone.
  • GPS Kit - $9.99. “A full-featured GPS application for the iPhone 3G. It features route tracking, waypoints, and maps in a way that only the iPhone can provide.”
  • Tom Tom - $99.99. Supports turn-by-turn navigation, smart route mapping, route planning, navigation, and much more.
  • AccuTerra - $0.99. Access detailed map data stored locally on your iPhone. Great for traveling/hiking in areas where connectivity is not possible.
  • MotionX GPS - $2.99. The web site and app interface is low quality but it supports GPS logging and a way to export the data (via email, which might be questionable). At the moment, this seems to be the only GPS tracker for the iPhone.
  • NASA - Gain instant access to news and media related to the space program and other happenings beyond the atmosphere.
  • Guitar Toolkit - $9.99. A collection of utilities for your guitar such as: chord finder, tuner, metronome, chromatic tuner, etc.
  • Paypal - Free. Easily transfer money between friends and family using your Paypal account.
  • Money Book - $2.99. A simple way to track and manage your finances.
  • Red Laser - $1.99. Turn your iPhone into a UPC scanner. Handy for comparing prices.
  • RoamBi - Free. An elegant visualizer for your data.
  • WiFi Get - A handy WiFi and Hotspot finder while on the go.
  • Chess with Friends - Free. Play a game (or several) with remote friends and family.
  • oMoby - Free. Adds visual search, using your camera, to identify and find more info on real world objects.
  • Gowalla - Free. Share locations that you visit easily with friends and family using GPS location information.
  • EleMints - Free (or $4.99). For those times when you need a kick-ass periodic table.
  • GasBook - $1.99. Locate where the cheapest gas is in your area.

  • Etymotic HF2 - Recommended by many as good earbuds to have for noise cancellation and sound reproduction.
