VMWare Time Synchronization for Windows

This might seem obvious but it is not enough to simply put a check in the “Time Synchronization” options box for VMWare as shown here:

VMWare Tools Options

You also need to make sure that your Windows VM “Date & Time” properties are set properly:

Windows Date & Time

Having both the Windows VM and your host computer (the one running the Windows VM) perform time synchronization can cause Windows to report the wrong time. Instead, just let the host computer do all the work.

Review

Following Radiohead’s lead (i.e. the “In Rainbows” album release), Nine Inch Nails has done something similar where you can download for free or purchase multiple formats of the album:

Album Formats

Initially, I downloaded the first 9 tracks for free. I liked what I heard and then decided to buy the CD. The best part is that while the CD is not out until April, you can download the entire album (as part of your CD purchase) in the following formats until the CD is available:

Digital Formats

Included in the download is all the album art along with wallpaper and web art. Lets hope that more artists start to pick up on this in the future. Actually, I’d prefer to download the lossless version of the music all the time. I don’t need a physical disk anymore.

As for the album, I am enjoying it a lot and is in my “developer” playlist along with Amon Tobin: Out From Out Where.

Aeonscope Tools Java Library 1.0.0

Aeonscope Tools Logo

Overview

This Java library is a collection tools I have written in the evenings and weekends to solve interesting problems that I have come across. Maybe you will find these tools useful as well. This library builds upon my other Java library: Aeonscope Core Library.

Enhancements

  • File Stubber - Allows one to create a duplicate but lightweight file structure for testing purposes.
  • Eclipse User Library Generator - A tool for creating an Eclipse user library (XML file) on a series of sub-directories that contain third-party Java libraries. This tool assumes you have working knowledge of the Eclipse IDE.

Fixes

  • None at the moment, this is the initial release.

Twitter

Twitter Logo
© Twitter

Twitter, in case you were not aware, is a free micro-blogging web service where you can write about what you are doing at any point in time. You can post updates by sending an SMS message from your cell phone, instant message client, or directly from the Twitter web site. These short messages are generally called “Tweets” and are limited to 140 characters of plain text, no HTML markup. Any URLs that are included in the text message will be automatically converted to hyperlinks (although you can use TinyURL to convert longer URLs into shorter ones).

I have been using Twitter off and on for a while now but recently have started to use it more frequently. Feel free to check out my Twitter profile and/or subscribe to my feed. You can also learn more about Twitter on my my Twitter page.
