Being one who is rather passionate and enthused about the work I do I often wonder if my energies would be better channeled elsewhere. Like staking it out on my own and starting a business. I know it is hard work but it is also a worthy challenge especially if you believe in what you do. I have been talking to others about this and even watching friends of mine from the sidelines: BandXI, B2 International, and Ajileso. Exciting as all this may be, here are some points of reference (articles and podcasts) worth checking out:

Brooke, any names I would know from b2international? Trying to think of some B names … And names of the startup in France? Already familiar with the Band X1 guys … if you can, email me, I rarely check back for comment responses.
E-mail sent.
Hey Brooke!
It is good to hear from you and thanks for adding our link to your “Enterprise of One” post! It was actually very interesting to see the OTIers at the last EclipseCon - some of them still at IBM, but quite a few already working for different companies.
Patrick, I am not sure you remember me, we worked on some projects together (WSDD release issues, JavaComm) just to name a few. Two years ago we have started an effort with Kim Clohessy who tragically passed away almost exactly a year ago (http://pmuellr.blogspot.com/2006/04/rip-kim-clohessy.html), but his dream and vision of creating an open-source healthcare ‘ecosystem’ is still very much alive… (http://www.eclipse.org/ohf/)
Balazs
Hey Balazs, yeah, you bet. It was always fun working with you and I’m glad your business is doing well. Hopefully, we’ll see each other soon (maybe even in a month due to some specials guy’s wedding).
Just jumping in to say “Hi, all” Balazs, the new business sounds quite interesting.
